My name is Sam Damon. I am a current senior at Meridian School in Round Rock, Texas, and I am excited to finally be completing the IB program.
When I am not busy, I enjoy biking, playing tennis, and programming. Otherwise, I am either working or spending time with friends and family.
In 2017, I moved to Bavaria, Germany for a year to study abroad. This experience allowed me to learn the German language and culture as well as develop a greater appreciation for the many peoples of the world.
I spent much of my time in Germany riding my bicycle through rolling, picturesque hills and photographing the various landscapes I encountered. As a result, I developed an affinity for photography and am interested in further pursuing it as a hobby in the future.
I am passionate about technology, and have been for most of my life. Additionally, I enjoy writing, playing tennis, and biking.
As a child, I enjoyed writing fictional stories and drew inspiration greatly from YA fiction authors such as J.K. Rowling. Some of the first books I can recall reading are the Harry Potter series, which shaped much of my initial interest in literature and my early vocabulary.
I would like to attempt writing fiction today with the experience I have gained since my last attempts. With the years of formal writing ability I have cultivated, I hope I will be better equipped to create a coherent and compelling narrative.
I do not have a particular favorite genre of music, though recently have found myself listening more to indie and alternative songs. One of the more eclectic songs I have enjoyed is Shuggie, by Foxygen. I attempt to nurture a wide range of musical tastes, as I find that every genre (even country!) has something different to offer.
